Hand Up Not A Hand Out

My overarching goal is to achieve self-sufficiency again, with my immediate focus on securing funds for essentials like food, catching up on truck payments, and caring for my ASD service dog and disabled mother. The journey has been challenging, with unexpected hurdles such as discovering my legal blindness, which went unnoticed for years due to oversight by social services. Despite starting with nothing but a bag of clothes and a laptop when I moved from California to Texas, I was determined to establish stability to get my mother out of the system in California. Thanks to the kindness of a stranger, I secured a job at a fast-food restaurant, eventually transitioning to a better-paying security job. However, my deteriorating eyesight became a setback, and I only learned of my legal blindness recently, despite it being documented since 2015. This lack of communication from social workers doesn't surprise me, given the past misdiagnoses and neglect in my family's medical history. My mother's rare condition, Guillain-Barré Syndrome, likely contributed to my own eye condition, Keratoconus, yet this crucial information was hidden from us and the courts, echoing the troubling narrative of the "Taking care of Maya" story. As I continue my journey, currently in Waxahachie, Texas, with my mother as my driver, I'm immensely grateful for the support and assistance that have come my way. Stay tuned for updates on how your donations are making a difference and the full story behind WHYWEBEG.COM. Thank you for extending a helping hand.
