On August 12, 2024, in Ennis, Texas, a Legally Blind Autistic man was arrested at a Whataburger while accompanied by his service dog. After the arrest, he was taken to jail, leaving his service dog separated from him and sent to the Ellis County Animal Care Center. Shockingly, the care center attempted to sell or rehome the dog on the very same day, aiming to remove it from his life permanently. This alarming move has sparked outrage, raising serious questions about the treatment of people with disabilities and the rights of service animals.
